The Pavilion Gardens is a beautiful, historic venue dating back to 1871 which superbly shows off the Victorian splendour of Buxton. Set within twenty three acres of magnificent, landscaped gardens and play areas, the venue provides the perfect setting for fun and relaxing family days out, with great food and drink, shopping and over 100 events and festivals throughout the year.

Follow the journey of silk making, from cocoon to loom at The Silk Museum. As well as the stunning displays of silk items, there is a fascinating programme of temporary exhibitions to enjoy. Paradise Mill is next door. Step back into the 1930s with a guided tour; see restored Jacquard looms and machinery, and watch as they weave their magic!

At Christmas the village takes on a magical appeal with pretty lights, decorations and an array of Christmas trees, which attracts visitors from far and wide.

The largest market in the Derbyshire Dales, Bakewell stall market occupies two sites and has 162 regular stalls. The stall market dates from the 1920's although markets and fairs have been held in Bakewell since the 1300's when Henry III granted William Gernon, Lord of Bakewell the right to hold a fifteen day fair in May.

The current day market has a wide variety of good including clothes, bed linen, shoes, fruit & veg, freshly baked bread, flowers, jewellery, wool, toys and hot food stands. Everything for the intrepid shopper.
